Trade Screen Time for Real Words & Active Learning

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I ordered this. My daughter has always been very quiet during playtime, so I thought we'd probably use it once and forget about it.

It's actually become one of the things she asks for. She points at the cards, listens to the word and then tries to copy it. Such a small thing, but it's been really lovely to see.

My son has never been interested in sitting down to "learn" anything. The second he thinks we're practicing something, he's gone 😂.

What surprised me is that he doesn't treat this like learning at all. He thinks it's a game and keeps choosing more cards. We've started hearing the words during normal play too.

We were having a hard time getting my daughter to repeat new words. She would listen but usually just move on to the next thing.

With the cards she actually wants to hear the word again and again. Now she'll sometimes point to a picture and attempt the word before pressing the button. That was a really nice surprise.

I bought this because I wanted something we could do together without putting another screen in front of him.

The best part is that I can sit beside him and repeat the words with him. He loves being the one who chooses which card comes next.

My biggest struggle has been keeping him focused for more than a few minutes. He's constantly moving from one toy to another.

Somehow this keeps his attention because there's always another picture or sound to discover. We don't do long sessions, just a few cards at a time, but he keeps coming back to it.

I wasn't looking for anything complicated. I just wanted an activity that might encourage him to make more sounds and words during the day.

We've made it part of our morning routine and he gets excited when I bring the dinosaur out. He especially loves the animal cards.

We had gotten into the habit of me asking him to say words and him immediately saying "no" 😂. I stopped making it feel like a lesson and started using this during play instead.

The difference is that he actually initiates it now. He calls the dinosaur over when he wants to play.

One little moment made me realize she was actually remembering the cards. We were outside and saw a dog, and she pointed at it and tried to say the word.

We've been playing with the animal cards regularly, so seeing her connect the picture with something in real life was really sweet.

My daughter has always preferred active play, so flashcards usually weren't her thing.

The fact that she can touch the cards, hear the word and then move onto another one makes it much easier for her to stay interested. We usually end up doing more than I planned because she wants another round.

I saw this while scrolling and almost didn't order because we've bought plenty of toys that looked great online and didn't get touched afterwards.

I think that's why it has worked so well for us. It doesn't feel like something extra I have to plan. We just pick it up and play.

What I appreciate is how easy it is to use. We can do a few cards whenever we have a spare moment, and she actually enjoys coming back to it.
